SWA is currently working to address the worsening humanitarian crisis in South Sudan, where approximately 5 million people need assistance, and roughly 104 people are displaced every hour due to conflict, extreme poverty, and acute food insecurity. Over 65% experience gender-based violence (GBV), with high rates of child marriage, lack of education, and limited healthcare, creating one of the lowest gender equality levels globally. \u00a0SWA is legally registered as a non-profit organization with the Relief and Rehabilitation Commission (RRC)of the Republic of South Sudan (Registration Number:1728).<\/p>\n<p>[\/et_pb_text][\/et_pb_column][\/et_pb_row][\/et_pb_section][et_pb_section fb_built=&#8221;1&#8243; The General Assembly serves as the supreme governing body of an organization, bringing together diverse key stakeholders\u2014including dedicated women representatives\u2014to ensure inclusive decision-making and strategic oversight.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Board of Directors:<\/strong> Consists of 7 members (5 women and 3 men), including foundation and elected members. They serve a maximum of two 2-year terms, meet quarterly to approve plans\/reports. Have 2 sub-committees: finance\/budget\/procurement and the Discipline and Welfare Committee. The Finance and Procurement Committee provides strategic oversight of the organization\u2019s financial health, ensures the integrity of financial reporting, manages risk, and establishes transparent, cost-effective procurement policies that support the organization\u2019s mission. The Discipline and Welfare Committee ensures a safe, orderly, and respectful environment, balancing strict adherence to institutional rules with proactive support for staff well-being. It enforces codes of conduct, investigates misconduct, and addresses mental health or behavioral issues through counseling, aiming to foster staff performance.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Secretariat:<\/strong> Led by an Executive Director appointed by the Board, supported by heads of Finance\/Administration, Programs, Monitoring\/Learning, and Fundraising. The Executive Director (ED) of an NGO acts as the chief staff leader and public face of the organization, responsible for implementing the strategic vision set by the Board of Directors.
