In addressing climate-smart technology, we (SWA) aim to launch eco-friendly initiatives of the Eco Stove system, which offers a climate-smart cooking solution by utilizing reusable volcanic rocks to retain heat, effectively reducing reliance on traditional biomass. This new idea is doing very well in Uganda. It uses solar-powered systems that use forced air to make cooking more efficient. Adopting the system in South Sudan will replace charcoal and wood with volcanic rocks; this technology will provide significant environmental, health, and economic benefits for off-grid households and institutions in South Sudan. The initiative will be manufactured and assembled locally by the local South Sudanese youths, and it will create jobs and offer a sustainable alternative to traditional cooking methods, hence curbing deforestation.

The indigenous food hub. Indigenous foods are vital for nutritional security, cultural preservation, and sustainable agriculture in South Sudan; however, modernization has significantly threatened their conservation and consumption. Our research will highlight innovations that aim at revitalizing the different Indigenous foods, particularly within the different tribal communities in South Sudan. We aim to enhance the cultivation, consumption, and cultural engagement with traditional crops by leveraging digital platforms, community-based food hubs, farmers’ training, and awareness campaigns, thereby maintaining the existence of indigenous crops and improving nutrition.

Gender-Based Violence and Technology: We plan to research a safety and emergency mobile application (BSFAE), where a circle of six (6) users in different communities will use the application to alert a trusted contact, record audio/video quickly, or send alarms in unsafe situations. The digital platforms will enable survivors to seek help without speaking aloud, which is critical for those living with abusive partners. Using messaging apps (like WhatsApp) or interactive SMS systems will provide real-time healthy relationship education, crisis support, and linkages to local services.

Women’s Health and Safety (SHHR), including Maternal Mortality, Adolescent and Youth SRHR (AYSRH). High Maternal Mortality: South Sudan has one of the highest maternal mortality ratios globally (over 700 per \\(100,000\\) live births), driven by delays in seeking care, transport challenges, and facility shortages. AYSRH Crisis: Approximately \\(30\\%\\) of teenage girls (ages 15-19) are pregnant, and the median age of sexual debut is as low as 14. Early marriages and high illiteracy limit their ability to negotiate contraception or access reproductive care. The Digital Reality: While smartphone penetration is low, basic mobile phone ownership is growing. Initiatives like Starlink connectivity in remote health facilities and geospatial health tracking provide an infrastructure that can be leveraged at the community level. SWA would like to develop a Community Digital Health Link.”: An interactive, low-tech voice and SMS platform for rural and displaced South Sudanese women to anonymously access maternal danger-sign alerts, map emergency transport, and receive Adolescent and Youth Sexual and Reproductive Health (AYSRH) information in local dialects.

Digital Transformation in the education sectorto promote digital literacy and hands-on IT innovation.IT innovation, specifically targeting students at the high school level to prepare them for the modern workforce by deploying “offline-first” curricula, targeted digital teacher training, and mobile-based IT innovation.
